About Me

Hey! I'm Alyssa,

I’m a follower of Jesus, Jake's wife, and mama to 7.

I started dabbling in photography when I had my daughter Nixon in 2016, and my new hobby eventually grew into my side gig. I officially started my business in 2017 and quit my job as a daycare provider in 2019 so that I could focus more on my family as well as photography.

I love the flexibility and creativity that it provides, while also allowing me to stay home with my seven kids.

Photography has made me step out of my comfort zone and it’s enabled me to meet so many cool people. It’s given me so many amazing opportunities and I’m just so thankful for everyone that continues to support me on this journey!

A few fun and/or random things about me:

1. I love reading! A few of my favorites are: The Giver, Local Woman Missing, The Housemaid, & All Good People Here. I usually have a couple of books that I am working on simultaneously.

2. I love gardening. It began with a little vegetable garden at our first house. I was so excited when Jake and my dad built that for me. Soon after, we helped start a community garden at our church. That was way back before I had any babies. This past spring we built on to our existing garden and I am so excited to dig in the dirt again soon!

3. Infertility and miscarriage have been woven into my story. I love talking with and encouraging others who are walking similar paths.

4. I realized in 2020 that I don't hate board games...I just hate initially learning the rules :). Taboo is my favorite! Code Names is a close second.

5. I LOVE listening to true crime podcasts and watching true crime documentaries. Anyone else? I’d love to chat!

6. Stranger Things is my current favorite show.

7. Summer is my favorite season. 2020 really gave our family a new appreciation for the outdoors. I love the sidewalk chalk, kiddie pools, lighting bugs, long walks, the sunsets...there are so many good things that come with it! Although I am not a huge fan of winter, I do appreciate the time the down time that comes with it. Each season in the midwest has something fun to offer. This year we are working on the 1000 hours outside challenge...again...I say this every year. Maybe I will finally remember to log the hours :)
